The Norfolk Tide LRT project

Check out this video rendering of Norfolk's LRT project. The cost is $232.1 mil for an initial 7.4 mile system, or $31.35mil/mile. It appears to be largely street running, but with at least one major bridge over water, which would drive the cost up. Still, this is definitely an affordable project, and it's somewhat embarrassing that Norfolk is getting the Tide while Richmond continues to do nothing for transit.

  1. Well, while yes it is somewhat embarassin that Norfolk is getting a better system, quicker, than the state capital, its not suprising. look at NOVA the entire area of nova is a prime example of how our state government waits untill the problem grows to be too big to fix, and then they take years upon years of fixing it. norfolk is bigger so therefore its happening there first, richmond's turn will come but most likely not for the next 10-15 years.
